Art has always been a part of my life since I can remember. I started drawing on my grandmother’s phone table tablet and she always seems to have had an endless amount of paper. I was constantly finding new materials to explore with. Nothing was safe! I would use my mother’s food coloring if I could find it. She became very good at hiding it. Or I would go through her facial tissues creating flowers. She finally gave up buying them. Slowly she started giving me watercolors and crayons. What does this history have to do with my work statement? Everything! I have never stopped creating. As I have gotten older I have learned to hone my drawing and painting skills. I work with my watercolors like I used to work with my mother’s food colors, light and layering washes. I worked and worked until I think I have found my voice. I am however my worst critic and constantly trying to sharpen my style. My goal is to create an interesting style that brings the viewer into an interpretation of what they think may happen next. A statement or a story in the making.
